Gelida celebrates the Modernisme Days on the first weekend of June.
Modernisme developed in Catalonia from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century. In Gelida it had numerous artistic manifestations, such as architecture, with important historic houses, and a wealthy class that understood this art as a moment of creativity and modernity.
In particular, the emergence of the first summer holiday in Gelida was closely linked to the outbreak of Modernisme. Coinciding with Modernisme Day, the Penedès municipality promotes this heritage and many related activities.
With the different activities we want to get closer to Modernisme, with guided tours, theatrical performances, live music, family activities, exhibitions and period settings.
