Penedès, a whole world of wine
Penedès is one of the oldest wine regions in Europe. A land where, for more than 2,700 years, wine culture has set the rhythm of time, of the seasons and of life itself. Nowhere else in the country has lived its bond with the vine as intensely, as persistently and as consciously as Penedès. Farmers have shaped the winemaking landscape, but it is the wineries, large and small, that reveal its soul. Projects of every size and kind open their doors to share the liquid memory of this whole landscape.
Identity and shared passion
Some Penedès wineries are the legacy of century-old family dynasties; others are young, daring ventures that reinvent ways of working and winemaking. All of them, however, share a passion for turning the fruit of the land into wines that speak of where they come from: Penedès. To visit it is to immerse yourself in this universe of flavours, aromas and textures — ancestral-method, still, sparkling and sweet wines.
It is to understand that behind every glass there is a way of living, a way of looking and a way of doing that can only happen here. It is to experience first-hand a wine culture that cannot be grasped from the outside, but only by treading it, breathing it and listening to it from within.
DO Penedès
DO Penedès is the Designation of Origin with the longest history and winemaking tradition in Catalonia. More than 2,500 hectares of vineyards stretch across the area between the sea and the mountains, halfway between Barcelona and Tarragona. What's more, since 2025 it has been the first in the world to produce its entire output organically.
Soil, climate and altitude divide the DO Penedès into 10 terroirs, each marked by a unique character that yields wines of great diversity. A thousand flavours, aromas, bodies and structures… are the result of differences in climate and scenery and of the richness and variety of the soils that make it up, tinged with the green of the mountains and plains or the blue of the Mediterranean waters.
The miracle of the bubbles
Through cellars and an endless network of galleries dug tens of metres underground, thousands of bottles rest for months, even years, in a meticulous process that turns still wine into bubbles. Time, craft and patience do the rest. The result is sparkling wines that speak of the landscape that saw them born, of the soil and the climate, but also of a deep-rooted, artisanal and tenacious wine culture that has managed to preserve the essence of knowledge shared across generations.
Several designations of origin and collective brands —Cava, Clàssic Penedès, Corpinnat and even sparkling wines outside any DO— coexist in this area, making sparkling wines with a spirit of their own. Each with its own personality, they express through their bubbles the essence of a unique land.
